SUMMARY: Responsible for the safe operation of attractions in shallow water up to a depth of five (5) feet, patron surveillance ensuring guest safety, and delivering exemplary guest service.







ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





+ Ensures the proper use of safety practices and procedures while operating the attraction in addition to opening and closing procedures, to include: loading and unloading the ride, providing safety instructions, patron surveillance and assisting guests with special access in water depths up to five (5) feet. Observe ride monitors to ensure safe operation of attraction. Safely evacuate the ride in accordance to operating procedures.



+ Welcome and greet guests, screen for ride requirements and special needs. Provide guest and attraction information, monitor the queue and make appropriate adjustments and record ride counts.



+ Maintains a clean and safe work environment by constantly monitoring the immediate area and/or surroundings. Responsible for ensuring a neat and organized work area, trash removal and keeping the area free of debris to include: the proper maintenance of equipment and/or tubes/ride vehicles.



+ Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Wet ‘n Wild policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities



+ Performs other duties as assigned.













Requirements







QUALIFICATIONS:



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.





+ Must be at least 18 years of age.



+ Must be comfortable in and around water for an entire shift.



+ Must be able to work in a fast pace environment and operate ride vehicles.



+ Regularly required to ride the attraction to ensure show quality and proper working conditions.



+ Able to make quick decisions, recognize, respond to, and extract an individual in distress.



+ Must be able to swim 100 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.



+ Must be able to tread water for two (2) minutes using only the legs.



+ Must be able to swim 20 yards using the front crawl or breaststroke, submerge to a depth of 4 to 5 feet to retrieve a ten (10) pound brick, return to the surface and walk or swim 20 yards to return to the starting point within 50 seconds (timed event).



+ Must be able to communicate via phone, whistle and radio. Must be able to distinguish hand signals at a distance of up 50 ft.





Consistent attendance is a job requirement.







EDUCATION:





+ High school degree or GED is required.





CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:





+ Must be able to successfully complete and pass all training for American Red Cross Aquatics Attractions Lifeguard Certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED and pass a written and practical American Red Cross Certification and general operating procedures assessment as well as successfully pass any skill audits.





EXPERIENCE:





+ Must be able to swim. Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.





ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:





+ Team Members will be American Red Cross certified on site. Must complete monthly in-service training requirements









PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:





+ Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) Standing for prolonged periods of time; Walking for prolonged periods(including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a moving sidewalk);Talking; Use of hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; Climb Stairs / Ladders; Ability to work at heights for prolonged periods of time including heights with or without railings or over open pits greater than 4 feet; Reach, pull, push with hands and arms below head; Repeating motions more than twice per minute; Ability to work in an environment subject to vibrations; Close vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to maintain alertness and attentiveness up to 4 hours while working varying hours; Ability to maintain concentration/focus (e.g., ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedure)



+ 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) Sitting for prolonged periods; Hearing audible alarms, voice commands with background noise; Balance; Reach, pull, push with hands and arms above head; Pushing up to 10 pounds with control; Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions); Ability to work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting; Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps; Ability to smell; Will include exposure to Bodily Fluids (blood, vomit)



+ Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; Lifting up to 25 pounds with control; Ability to work in small or tight spaces; Will require working with compressed gas cylinders or tanks









WORK ENVIRONMENT:



While performing the duties of this job, the individual is required to:





+ Regularly (2/3 of the time or more) Ability to work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather);Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat or cold; Noise Level-Loud Noise (Noise when raised conversation is needed)



+ Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) Will include exposure to Bodily Fluids (blood, vomit)



+ Occasionally (1/3 of the time or less) Will require working with compressed gas cylinders or tanks
