Job Description

WXII 12, Hearst Television’s leading NBC affiliate in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Creative Services Director. The qualified candidate is both creative and strategic—able to execute messaging that breaks apart from the pack while moving the station’s brand forward with their video editing skills. We’re looking for someone with the production experience to help lead a team of writers/producers/editors. The Assistant Creative Services Director will be responsible for on-air, and social media promotion. Candidate will work closely with CSD in developing brand and marketing strategies for the station. Required Skills

JOB DUTIES:

  • Managing department of two on-air writer/producers, and the graphic arts manager.
  • Creation of on-air and cross-platform image campaigns, topical promotion, POPs, IDs, news opens and other related production elements.
  • Work with WXII 12’s digital team to create social media marketing content for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Work with the Creative Services Director to identify daily opportunities for reaching the target audience using multiple platforms.
  • Must have proven track record of developing large scale image campaigns, including writing, directing, field production and lighting, and editing techniques.
  • Must have hands-on ability to edit with state-of-the art equipment and advanced non-linear editing systems, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Creation of outside media, as needed.
  • Must have very developed and proven communications skills.
  • Highly collaborative, symbiotic relationship with GM, creative services director, news director and news department—common goal, team approach.
  • Must be highly organized and strategically focused.
  • Must have unfailing ability to work under pressure and HIT
  • Must have passion and vision for promotion with viewer benefit! Sell the coverage differentiators, distinctions and benefits of WXII 12 NEWS.
  • Must occasionally manage sales-related contests, rules, and special giveaways.
  • Must interact and work with NBC Affiliate Marketing, and syndication affiliate marketing on projects, co-op and other special events.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Communications, Marketing, or Technology related field is preferred. Completion of college level technical & editing classes a plus.

Required Experience

  • Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-years working inside a television station creative services department, and be particularly adept at strategic marketing of news.
